Start with the product’s purpose

Foodshake is an umbrella term on this website. We separate complete meals from protein shakes so that products with similar purposes can be compared. High protein content alone does not make a complete meal.

Different categories have different rules

The Swedish Food Agency distinguishes meal replacement for weight control from total diet replacement for weight control. The latter is a specific regulated category. Our complete meal catalogue label is a comparison category, not confirmation that a product belongs to the legal total diet replacement category.

Check the exact flavour

Read ingredients, allergens, serving size and intended use on your pack. A series average does not replace information about the flavour you buy.

Read beyond the product name

Two packs can both use the word shake without containing the same type of product. Start with intended use, then read energy, protein, carbohydrates, fat, fibre, ingredients and declared vitamins and minerals. Check whether the declaration describes dry powder or a prepared serving.

Water adds no energy. Milk, plant drinks or other ingredients need to be counted if you use them. Distinguish what is included in the product from what you add yourself.

How to read Foodshakes product ranges

We group flavours within a product range to make the overview easier to use. Each reviewed flavour is normalized to 400 kcal and receives equal weight in the average. You can then select an individual flavour for its own ingredients and nutrition.

An average provides an overview. If you need to avoid an allergen or want particular ingredients, the exact flavour and your pack matter. Coverage indicates how many flavours listed in the catalogue have supporting data.
